ENGLISH LEMON POUND CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tbsp. lemon extract
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Mix well. Add extracts and salt. Sift flour again and add alternately with buttermilk. Mix soda and vinegar in a small bowl. Add to above mixture. Pour into tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 325 degrees for 65 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Do not overcook.
