GRAHAM OR WHOLE WHEAT BREAD 
1 qt. buttermilk or any sour milk
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. melted shortening
4 c. whole wheat flour
Enough white flour to make moderately stiff dough

Pour into bread pans and let stand 1 hour. Bake 50 to 60 minutes in 350 degree oven. Raisins or nutmeats may be added, if desired.
