DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. salt
Milk
1 c. corn flakes
8 to 10 tart apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 egg white
1 c. powdered sugar
3 to 4 tsp. milk

Stir together flour and 1 teaspoon salt, cut in shortening. In measuring cup, beat egg yolk; add enough milk to measure 2/3 cup. Mix well, stir into flour mixture. On floured surface, roll half of dough to 17x12 inch rectangle fit in bottom and up sides of 15x10x1 inch baking pan.

Sprinkle with corn flakes; top with apple slices, mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples, roll remaining dough to size and place over apples, seal edges, cut slit in top.

Beat egg white until frothy, brush on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes while warm. Drizzle with mixture of powdered sugar and 3 to 4 teaspoons milk. Cool, cut into bars.
