DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 c. cornflakes
8-10 tart apples
1 egg white and enough milk to make 2/3 c.
3/4 - 1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white

Combine flour and salt. Cut butter into flour mixture. Add egg white to milk; mix well. Stir milk and egg mixture into flour mixture to make a dough. On a floured surface, roll half the dough to make a 11 x 17 inch triangle.

Fit into and up the sides of a 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 1 inch baking pan. Sprinkle with corn flakes. Top with apples. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on top. Roll remaining dough to 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch rectangle and place over apples. Seal edges. Cut slits in the top.

Beat egg whites until frothy and brush this on the top.

Bake in 375°F oven for 50 minutes.

Makes 3 dozen.

ICING FOR DANISH APPLE BARS:

1 c. sifted powdered sugar
3-4 tsp. milk

Mix and drizzle over warm bars.
