ROAST BEEF AND GRAVY 
Beef roast, any cut
Lipton onion soup mix
Salt
Pepper
Approximately 1 c. flour
Shortening
Water

Salt, pepper and flour the beef roast. Heat shortening in pt. Put roast into pot and brown on both sides. Remove roast from pot. Pour up most of the shortening (leave enough to add flour and soup mix). Add flour and 1 to 2 packages of soup mix. Stir into hot shortening until brown. Add water, stirring into browned mixture.

Put roast back into pot in gravy. Simmer 2 to 3 hours until tender. Stir gravy and turn roast over occasionally. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or baked sweet potatoes.
