SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
Heat oven to 375 degrees.

3/4 c. butter flavor Crisco (or 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening)
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. pecan pieces (optional)

1. Combine shortening (and butter), brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in large mixing bowl. 2. Add egg. Beat until blended 3. Combine flour, salt, baking soda and powder. Beat into creamed mixture until well blended. 4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. 5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons, 3 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes. Cookies will appear moist. 2 1/2 dozen 3 inch cookies.
