TOFFEE BARS 
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. soft butter
1 egg, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Grease 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Combine all ingredients except egg white and nuts. Mix until well blended. Pat dough evenly into pan.

Beat egg white slightly with fork. Brush over top of dough and sprinkle with nuts. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until golden. Immediately cut into 4 strips lengthwise and each strip into 12 pieces. Remove from pan.
