BEST HAMBURGER STEAK EVER
Steak:

1 1/2 lbs. ground hamburger
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper, to taste
1 medium onion, sliced

Gravy:

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/4 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet (browning sauce)
water
salt and pepper, to taste

Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and flour together. Form into patties. Brown on both sides. Remove from skillet.

Sauté onion in the same pan, adding a small amount of oil if needed.

After sauteing the onion, remove from skillet and add flour for gravy. Stirring constantly, brown the flour. Stir water into the browned flour to make the gravy.

Add bouillon cubes, salt and pepper. Thin with water for desired thickness.

Add Kitchen Bouquet if gravy isn't brown enough.

When gravy is made, put steaks and onion in gravy. Simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking often and adding water to keep gravy from becoming too thick.

Serve with french fries, rice, mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish!

I used the recipe to make fathers' day dinner, I had never made this before and found it very easy to follow and it turned out nicely. I did not however use the bouillon cubes because I didn't not have any, but for the gravy I used beef broth and some water. I would definitely recommend trying the recipe.

I was a doubter--have been disappointed in recipes so many times--but this is a winner! I agree the meat is a little bland, but don't know what would improve it. I followed the recipe exactly but didn't need Kitchen Bouquet because I carefully browned the flour until it was quite a deep brown. I'll be making this again soon.

I tried this tonight, excellent! After reading several reviews and drawing from my own experience, I did add some extra seasoning to the meat. A little Worcestershire, ground thyme, dried chives, onion powder and one lightly beaten egg. The burgers were moist and had a great texture. Gravy was wonderful. This is a keeper!

Great recipe I am frequent cook and had a little left over hamburger from a complex dish I made last night. Ran out of time watching football games and did a quick online search for a fast popular recipe. This one will become a household staple. Thanks for sharing

This is very good and my family loves it. I add mushrooms to the gravy and some dry onion soup mix to the meat. Other than this it's pretty spot on

I added some grated onion to the meat and instead of Kitchen Bouquet, I added some Worcestershire Sauce to the gravy and my family actually liked it!! Something easy and different.

Just made this. Gravy was good, not too fond of meat. Hubby said it was good, kids wouldn't touch it. Very simple though.
