BEST HAMBURGER STEAK EVER
Steak:

1 1/2 lbs. ground hamburger
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper, to taste
1 medium onion, sliced

Gravy:

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/4 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet (browning sauce)
water
salt and pepper, to taste

Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and flour together. Form into patties. Brown on both sides. Remove from skillet.

Sauté onion in the same pan, adding a small amount of oil if needed.

After sauteing the onion, remove from skillet and add flour for gravy. Stirring constantly, brown the flour. Stir water into the browned flour to make the gravy.

Add bouillon cubes, salt and pepper. Thin with water for desired thickness.

Add Kitchen Bouquet if gravy isn't brown enough.

When gravy is made, put steaks and onion in gravy. Simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking often and adding water to keep gravy from becoming too thick.

Serve with french fries, rice, mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish!

Best Hamburger Steak Ever

It's basically Salisbury Steak and it's good however I new that 1/4 tsp garlic powder would not be enough for 1 1/2 lbs hamburger believe I doubled it was not over done. I also added seasonings to the meat season salt, etc to give it a good flavor. Make you're own gravy mix not flower in the pan then water it will lump up bad and you will be mashing it forever. In the end they are tasty just do some extra seasoning to the meat.

This is the best recipe for Salisbury steak I've found. I use Worcestershire Sauce instead of Kitchen Bouquet and my family loves it!!

A simple recipe, that your guests think took hours in the kitchen. I owned a restaurant for 11 years, wish I had this recipe then. EXCELLENT!

My mom used to fix this dish for us kids when we were all home. I never knew how to fix it. I'm glad I found this recipe. This hamburger steak is soooooo goooood! We couldn't have steak very often because it cost too much then and tooo many kids, so Mom would fix this for Dad and us and we all just loved it. Thanks for putting this up.

It's a hit! I too put some of the onion in the meat before cooking and then continued with the recipe as written. This is a keeper and I'll be glad to have this recipe when the family comes to visit. Thanks!

I am going to make this for supper tonight. What can you add to the gravy if you don't have kitchen bouquet.

Used ground round and was too lean and didn't have enough browning in the bottom of the skillet. Used ground chuck before and it turned out better. I also had a jar of beef gravy to add to the skillet as we like to eat this with mashed potatoes and we like more gravy. My Husband loves it.

I used everything that was stated in above recipe and added Cajun seasoning to the meat. Instead of fresh onion used onion soup mix to the meat. Awesome!!! Thanks Rita

The meat was bland. I would definitely add some grated opinions and Worcestershire sauce next time. The instruction for making the gravy were very vague. I had no clue how much water to add. Next time I will look up a recipe specifically for gravy.

THANK YOU so much for sharing . This was our families favorite meat. Recipe was always unknown and was mom's secret. She did always finish this off in the oven, not on the stove top. Am guessing 350°F, for 30-45 minutes. For YEARS - everyone has asked for this - and as said, it was unknown.
