BUTTER FROSTING 
1 c. butter
1 c. flour
2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Mix butter and flour well and set aside. Boil sugar and water until it begins to thicken (bubble up). Pour over butter and flour mixture, add 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat until it begins to thicken and spread over cake. (Can 1/2 recipe for icing on pound cake.)
