"HERMAN" STARTER 
2 c. flour
3 tbsp. flour
1 env. active dry yeast
1 tsp. salt
2 c. warm water

In large bowl mix flour, sugar and salt. Gradually stir in water and beat and whisk until smooth. Cover with towel; set in warm place. Stir 2 or 3 times a day for 3 days until starter is bubbly and produces yeasty aroma. Transfer to large container. Cover partially; refrigerate. Should be used in 14 days - if not, cover tightly and freeze.

Should be fed immediately after each use.

To feed: 1 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar
