CANDY CANE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
Red food coloring

Mix first 5 ingredients then add flour and salt. Divide dough in 1/2, add red food coloring to 1/2. Take a small piece of white and roll into a log shape, then red dough. Twist the 2 log shapes together to make into a candy cane. Sprinkle with sugar and crushed peppermint. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes in ungreased sheet. Cool on racks.
