CANDY CANE COOKIES | |
1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sifted powdered sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. red food color Mix together the butter, shortening, sugar, egg and flavoring. Stir in flour. Divide the dough in half. Blend red food coloring in 1/2 of the dough. Roll about 2 teaspoons of each color dough into strips and 4" long. Place strips side by side and roll together, then twist like a rope and place on baking sheet, curving the top to form a candy cane. Repeat. Bake 9 minutes at 375 degrees. Do not over bake. |
