DATE FILLED COOKIES 
FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. pitted dates, chopped
3/8 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. water

DOUGH:

3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. milk

Cook filling until thick. Take from heat. Cool and add vanilla.

For dough, mix enough to moisten dough. Roll out 1/8 inch thick. Cut circles with cookie cutter. Place filling in center of cookie. Place another on top. Press edges together and bake in 375 degree oven or until brown.
