ICE CREAM SODAS 
1 to 2 c. (1/2 lb.) ripe fruit (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.)
2/3 c. water
1/3 c. granulated sugar
4 to 5 scoops ice cream
2 1/2 c. cold milk
2 1/2 to 3 1/2 c. soda water

Prepare the fruit, make a syrup of the water and sugar, and poach the fruit in this for a few minutes, then cool. Put in the bottom of 4 or 5 tall glasses, top with the ice cream, cold milk and fill with soda water.
