GRANDMA T'S WHITE BREAD 
1/4 c. shortening
6 tsp. salt
2/3 c. granulated sugar

Dissolve the above ingredients in 3 pints of hot water. Add flour to make a heavy paste. Add 1 (3 strip) package of dry yeast and beat well. Add flour and knead to form an "elastic" consistency ball. (Uses about 6 pints of flour.) Grease top of ball; cover lightly with towel and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down. Form into 5 loaves and let rise again until light. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from pans, butter tops, and cover lightly with towel.
