APPLESAUCE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 (15 oz.) jar applesauce or 2 c. chopped apples
1 c. salad oil
2 lg. eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. dark seedless raisins
1/4 tbsp. cinnamon
1 (8 inch) doily
Confectioners' sugar

About 3 hours before serving:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13x9 inch baking pan. Into large bowl, measure first 10 ingredients. With mixer at low speed, beat until mixed; increase speed to high; beat 5 minutes, scraping bowl often with rubber spatula. With spoon, stir in nuts and raisins; pour into pan.

2. Bake 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.

3. To serve, place doily on cake. Sprinkle confectioners' sugar through sieve onto doily. Discard doily. Makes 12 servings. About 470 calories per serving.
