CHRISTMAS CAKE 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. mixed spice
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 oz. candied peel
2 lbs. dried fruit
4 oz. cherries
4 oz. almonds
1 lemon rind, grated
4 eggs
4 tbsp. sherry, brnady or whiskey
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 lb. moist brown sugar
2 tbsp. black treacle

Mix all fruit and soak in spirits overnight. Cream butter, sugar and treacle. Do not overbeat. Add eggs and flour (a little at a time). Add fruit last. Line baking tin with wax paper and one layer of brown paper. Temperature 325 degrees. Bake 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
