CHRISTMAS FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
3 eggs
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 lemon, grated
1/2 c. wine
1/2 c. brandy
1 1/4 c. bread flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. dates
1 3/4 lb. mixed fruit
1/4 lb. almonds
1/8 lb. Brazil nuts
1/8 lb. pecans
1/4 lb. cherries
1/4 lb. pineapple

Mix fruit, nuts and add 3 tablespoons flour. Cream butter and sugars, add eggs, stirring one at a time, add spices, nuts (except Brazil nuts) and liquid. Add fruit (except cherries). Then add remaining flour sifted with baking powder.

Fill loaf pan 1/2 full. Put cherries and Brazil nuts down the middle. Add rest of the dough. Bake at 250°F. If made in 2 loaves, bake 3 hours.
