ENGLISH POUND CAKE 
1 lb. butter
1 lb. sugar
1 lb. eggs (weighed in the shells)
1 lb. flour

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter and sugar and mix well. Add eggs beating well after each is added. May add 2 tablespoons of brandy if desired. Continue beating until well mixed. Add flour slowly, mixing until thoroughly blended. Bake in 10 inch tube pan or two 9 x 5 inch pans, well greased. Bake until straw comes out dry or 1 hour for pans, 1 hour and 15 minutes for tube pan.
