PECAN BRITTLE 
Must be made in iron skillet!

2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. water
3/4 c. light Karo syrup

Cook, stirring constantly, on high heat until mixture spins a thread. Add 2 cups pecan pieces (raw peanuts will do). Cook until amber. This is tricky! (It must be amber but not burned.) Take off heat. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons butter. Stir, then add 2 teaspoons baking soda (make sure there are no lumps). Stir quickly, it will foam. Then pour onto lightly buttered foil. When cool, break into pieces.
