GERMAN PECAN BRITTLE 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. corn flakes cereal, slightly crushed
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Cream shortening in large mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each.

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt in medium bowl, add cereal and pecans, stirring to coat well. Stir flour mixture and vanilla into creamed mixture, mixing well.

Drop dough by teaspoon 2" apart onto greased and floured cookie sheets. Bake 325 degrees for 10 minutes. (Makes 5 dozen.) Cool on wire racks.
