DATE AND NUT CAKE 
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. boiling water
1 heaping tbsp. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. dates
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Mix together 1 cup chopped dates, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, boiling water, butter and soda. Cool. Add eggs, 1 cup sugar, flour and baking powder. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. While cake is baking boil remaining ingredients. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Spread over baked cake. Cool. Serve with whipped cream.
