4 c. water 2 c. meal 1 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 c. Pet milk 2 eggs Boil 4 cups water, then add 2 cups cornmeal and 1 cup flour; cook until thick. Remove from heat and add 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoons salt, 1 cup cream or milk, and 2 slightly beaten eggs. Mix into meal mixture. Melt 1/2 stick butter in iron frying pan. Pour in mixture and bake 1 hour at 400 degrees. Take out of oven; run cold water from (top) over the pone and drain off (drain slowly so pone won't run out of pan. Let cool, then cut. Some like it hot (spoon bread). |
