1 c. sour milk (1 c. milk add 1 tbsp. vinegar) 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. oil 1 pkg. dry yeast (1 tbsp.) 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda Combine milk, sugar and oil in saucepan. Heat to lukewarm. Remove from heat. Add yeast; let set for 5 minutes. Stir in flour, salt and soda until blended. Add more flour if too sticky. Knead lightly. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Shape into bread sticks, place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 20 minutes or until browned. Makes 12 to 16 large sticks. You can also make crazy bread. Make recipe 1 1/2 times. Pat dough in greased 12"x16" pan. Melt 1/2 cube butter, add 1 teaspoon garlic salt and Parmesan cheese, rub all over dough. Cut dough in crazy pieces. Bake at 400 degrees until nice and brown. |
