FRENCH VANILLA COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. 10X sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour

Mix first seven ingredients together, then add the flour. Chill dough 15 minutes. Shape in small balls. Place well apart on greased sheet (they spread). Flatten slightly with glass. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes.
