SOUR CREAM CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE 
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
3/4 cup dairy sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup water
4 (1 oz. ea.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt into large mixing bowl. Add butter, sour cream, vanilla, eggs, water and cooled chocolate. Beat with electric mixer at low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat 3 more minutes at high speed. Pour batter into 2 greased and waxed paper-lined 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until cakes test done. Cool in pans on racks for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on racks.

Makes 1 (2 layer) cake.

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting:

1/3 cup soft butter
3 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
3 (1 oz. ea.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine first three ingredients and blend well. Then add chocolate and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Assemble and frost cooled cake.
