OLD FASHION PLAIN POUND CAKE 
1 lb. sugar
1 lb. butter

12 egg yolks, that have been beaten
1 grated nutmeg
1/2 c. wine & rose water to flavor

1 lb. sifted cake flour
The well-beaten whites of the eggs

If batter is too stiff, thin with milk. This recipe has been in continuous use for 5 generations in LaGrange and Columbus, Georgia. Can be kept for weeks in an earthen jar, closely covered, first dipping letter paper in brandy and placing over cake before covering jar.
