CHOCOLATE PIE 
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 c. milk
2 egg yolks
1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. vanilla

PIE MERINGUE TOPPING:

2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add cream of tartar, beating more, add sugar a small amount at a time. Beat until stiff. Add vanilla. Beat again.

PIE: Combine flour, sugar, cocoa and salt. Stir these while dry. Add milk and beat with egg beaters. Then add egg yolk. Beat again. Cook over low heat in double boiler, stirring often. When thick remove from heat. Now add the 2 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon of vanilla. Pour into baked pastry pie shell. Top with meringue and bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until meringue is light golden brown. Cool pie.
