BUTTERMILK RAISIN PIES 
2/3 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. sugar
3 egg yolks, only reserve whites
2 heaping tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of soda
1 c. cooked raisins

Mix dry ingredients. Add egg yolks and buttermilk to raisins. Then add dry ingredients and cook in heavy saucepan until thick, stirring in butter. Pour into 8 inch baked pie shell and top with meringue, made with the 3 egg whites and at least 3 tablespoons sugar. Brown meringue in hot oven. Cool to serve. Serves 6.

Sometimes uses whole eggs in pie. Then top it with whipped sweetened cream.
