PECAN SQUARES 
1 stick butter & 1 stick butter (1 c.)
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg, separated
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and butter, sugar and yolk beat until fluffy. Add flour and salt. Add 1/2 of nuts. Press in cookie sheet, 10 x 15. Brush with frothy lightly beaten white of egg. Sprinkle remaining nuts on top. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees, for 20 to 25 minutes. Cut into squares immediately and cool.
