KENTUCKY JAM CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. hot water
1 1/2 tbsp. instant coffee
2 c. jam or preserves

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs; beat well. Combine dry ingredients and dissolve coffee and soda in water. Add all other dry ingredients alternately to creamed mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Frosting: Jam or preserves.
