RED VELVET CAKE #2 | |
2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cocoa 3/4 c. salad oil 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 oz. red food coloring 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vinegar 1 tsp. vanilla Icing poured on cake after baked. 3/4 cup milk and 1/2 cup sugar. Sift flour, salt and cocoa in bowl. Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs, one at a time. Blend in coloring and vanilla. Combine buttermilk and soda. Add alternately with dry ingredients. Add vinegar last. Bake at 350 degrees for two 9 inch pans 25-30 minutes. For 13 x 9 inch pan 30 minutes. Mix sugar and milk in pan and bring to boil - spoon evenly over cake before frosting. FROSTING: 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese 1/2 c. butter 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Combine cream cheese and butter. Beat until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. |
