CHOCOLATE WALNUT OAT COOKIES 
6 oz. pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces, divided
1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. rolled oats
2 1/2 c. chopped walnuts, divided

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Melt chocolate pieces; set aside.

Combine butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in melted chocolate. Stir in flour and baking soda; mix well. Stir in oats and 2 cups walnuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle tops with remaining 1/2 cup walnuts. Bake in upper third of oven at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

Remove from cookie sheets; cool on wire racks. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
