VIRGINIA PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, peanut butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs, then flour sifted with soda. Roll into very small balls. Place on cookie sheet. Use a wet fork to flatten balls with crisscross design.

Bake at 400°F for about 10 minutes.

Yield: 4 dozen.
