1 (18.25 oz.) chocolate cake mix 1 1/2 c. milk 5 tbsp. flour 1 c. Crisco 1/2 c. butter 1 c. white sugar 1 tsp. vanilla FROSTING: 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. milk 1 c. chocolate chips 1 tsp. vanilla 1. Mix chocolate cake mix according to directions on package, pour into 2 greased 9"x13" pans and bake 18 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. 2. Mix 1 1/2 cups milk and 5 tablespoons flour, cook until thick like custard. Cool well. 3. Cream Crisco, butter and white sugar. 4. Add cooled custard and vanilla. Beat 8 minutes and spread over cooled cake. 5. FROSTING: Combine brown sugar, white sugar, butter and milk in saucepan, boil 2 minutes, stirring. Add chocolate chips and vanilla; mix well. 6. Cool frosting slightly and spread over the two pans of bars. 7. Refrigerate. Freezes well, but cut before freezing. |
