TURNIP CASSEROLE 
3 c. diced turnips
Salt
1 tsp. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Milk
1/2 c. crushed dry cereal
2 tbsp. butter, melted
2 tbsp. grated cheese

Cook turnips in water, adding sugar and salt to taste, until tender. Drain, reserving liquid.

Melt butter. Add flour, salt, nutmeg and blend. Add reserved liquid (if less than 1 1/2 cups add milk to make that much). Cook and stir until thickened.

Combine with turnips in greased baking dish. Cover with dry cereal, butter and cheese. Bake in 325 degree oven until brown, about 25 minutes. Serves 6.
