ORANGE HONEY BREAD 
2 tbsp. shortening
1 c. honey
1 egg, well beaten
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. orange juice
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tbsp. grated orange rind

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream the shortening, add the honey and mix together thoroughly. Add the egg and grated orange rind.

Sift the flour with the baking powder, soda and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the orange juice, stirring only until flour is dampened. Add the nuts. Turn into a greased 9 inch loaf pan and bake 1 hour and 10 minutes.
