ANGEL CRISP COOKIES 
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening (use half butter)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream shortening and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Dip top in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down in center with finger.

Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen.
