ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. cake flour
1 box dates
1 can coconut
2 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. orange peel
1 lb. bag orange slice candy, cut in sm. pieces

TOPPING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. orange juice
2 tbsp. orange peel

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Roll nuts, candy and dates in 1/2 cup flour. Sift soda in flour. Add alternately with milk. Add coconut, nuts, dates, candy and orange peel. Bake 2 1/2 hours in tube pan at 250 degrees.

TOPPING: Mix and pour over cake while cake is hot. Let cake cool completely before removing from pan.
