ICE BOX PICKLE (DILL) 
3 qt. cucumbers & onions
4 c. water
2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. pickling salt

Stir well so salt and sugar dissolve and pour over cucumbers and onions. (Do not cook.)

Layer cucumbers and onions in a quart jar. Top with a head of dill. Pour sugar, salt, vinegar mixture over the top. Cover with clean lids and ring. Put in refrigerator for about 10 days before eating. These will last for months.
