PECAN PASTRIES 
PASTRY DOUGH:

1/2 c. sweet butter
5 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt

FILLING:

1/2 c. sweet butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/3 c. honey
1/2 lb. chopped pecans
3 tbsp. whipping cream

Cream butter, sugar, shortening until smooth and well blended. Add egg, stir to blend. Add remaining ingredients, mix until just blended. Do not over mix. Pat dough into 9x13 inch pan. Prick with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.

Prepare filling. In saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and honey. Bring to a boil. Boil 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat. Add pecans and whipping cream. Spread filling over prebaked pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until dough is done and filling is lightly browned on top. Cut in squares to serve. Makes 25.
