GINGERBREAD COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
5 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Mix in bowl: shortening, sugar, vinegar, egg and molasses. Add and mix all remaining ingredients. Chill dough 2 to 3 hours. Roll thin on lightly floured surface. Cut in shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes 6 dozen.
