2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
1 or 2 tsp. vanilla
5 egg yolks
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Cream well the butter and Crisco. Add and beat well the sugar and vanilla. Add egg yolks, one at a time, saving whites for last. Add alternately in thirds the flour, baking powder and milk. Beat egg whites with mixer then fold into batter. Pour into tube pan, put in cold oven and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes. Keep oven door closed at all times.
