BAKED SAUERKRAUT 
2 (1 lb.) cans sauerkraut
8 to 10 slices bacon
2 tbsp. bacon grease
1/4 c. uncooked rice
2/3 c. sugar
Pepper to taste
1/3 c. raisins
12 prunes (approximately)
1/4 c. water

Cut bacon in small pieces and brown. Combine all ingredients. Bake in uncovered baking dish for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Cover the last 30 minutes or baking.

Variation: 1/2 pound of smoke-flavored sausage (browned) may be used in place of bacon.
