AMISH DATE (WEDDING) PUDDING 
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water

Put dates in bowl. Pour boiling water over dates. Let set to cool a bit. After cooled add: 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. chopped nuts 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg

Mix well. Pour into a greased pan and bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. When cold, break up into small pieces. Set aside.

SAUCE:

1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. flour
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix together well and boil until thick. Pour sauce over broken pieces of pudding. Top with whipped topping when ready to serve.
