APRICOT BARS 
FILLING:

1 lb. apricots, soaked in 2 c. water (drain & reserve 1/2 c.)
1 c. sugar

BASE:

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 c. shredded coconut
1 c. pecans
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder

BASE: Cream sugar and butter. Add coconut and mix well. Add flour and baking powder and mix until just lumpy. Press about 2 cups of this into 9"x13" pan and bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes. Spread filling over this and sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over evenly. Pat down a little. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool very completely. Makes 30 bars. This is better when made a day ahead.
