100 YEAR OLD BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
3 c. raisins
3 c. water
1 stick butter
Pinch of salt
4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
5 1/2 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten

Cook together the raisins, water and butter. COOL. Add the rest of the ingredients and pour into prepared pans. Grease and flour 9 to 10 cans or 7 to 8 (1 lb.) loaf pans or 2 regular loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes, according to your pan size. Test with toothpick.
