ANGEL FOOD CAKE | |
1 c. flour 1/2 c. sugar 10 to 12 egg whites (1 1/4 c.) 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Sift together flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Beat eggs and salt until frothy. Add cream of tartar to whites; beat until stiff but not dry. Gradually add 1 cup sugar at low speed, scraping sides of bowl often. At low speed add vanilla and flour and sugar mixture until blended. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Bake at 325°F for 60 minutes. Invert pan until cake is cold. |
