SOFT OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
10 tbsp. raisin juice
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. cooked raisins
2 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt

Cook 2 cups raisins in water to cover. When cooked, measure out 10 tablespoons of juice and add soda to it. Set aside. Blend sugar, shortening, and eggs. In separate bowl, sift flour and salt. Add to sugar mixture. Add oatmeal. Stir in raisin juice. Add vanilla and raisins.
